Sporting Activities:

The Following Sporting Activities Are Available:  

Boys and Girls Hockey:

There are four junior and two senior girls sides and two boys sides; one senior and one junior.  

Cricket:

Mondeor offers boys cricket. Matches are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays.  

Boys and Girls Tennis:

Mondeor High School tennis teams have access to our tennis courts.  Approximately eight matches are played per season: terms one and four for the boys and term 3 for the girls.  

Boys and Girls Squash:

Squash is an all year round sport which is held at the Winchester Sports Centre. Matches are on Fridays : about ten per term. Boys and Girls  

Athletics:

A past learner from Mondeor's athletics club, Wadden Niewoudt participated in the Barcelona Olympics. Athletics is a third term sport. We run a July holiday clinic on the Mondeor High athletics track. There is an inter-school athletics meeting every Wednesday for six weeks. Many of our athletes are chosen to run at our prestige meeting.  

Boys and Girls Rowing:

This is one of Mondeor High's prestigious sports, boasting four Olympic champions, Michael Hasselbach, Gareth Costa, Lowrence Ndlovu and Clifford King. Rowers train on the water at Wemmer Pan and two afternoons in the Ergo room. Inter-school regattas are held every Saturday of the season, in terms one and four. Mondeor High School offers tours to Natal and East London, as well as two training camps to Roodeplaat Dam.  


Boys and Girls Swimming:

Our swimming team has produced some very successful swimmers. Inter-school galas take place once a week during terms one and four.  

Boys and Girls Soccer:

Over 100 soccer players practice twice weekly at our schools fields, Games on Tuesdays & Thursdays.  

Boys and Girls Badminton:

Mondeor High School has more teams playing in league matches than any other school in Southern Gauteng. Our 100 players, coached by the Southern Gauteng coaches, have achieved excellent results at numerous prestigious tournaments and many of them have been selected to play in Provincial Teams. Greame Stanton, our most successful player, was selected as captain of the South African Development Team. He also represented South Africa internationally in 1996.  

Girls Netball:

There are practices for each age group at least twice a week, and inter-school matches are played every Thursday and a few on Saturdays when tournaments are played.  

Boys Basketball:

The under 16 and under 19 teams receive coaching twice a week during the first and fourth terms. Matches are played once a week and are run by the United Schools Basketball League.  

Boys and Girls Cross Country:

There are approximately 30 athletes in the cross-country team, and in term two they train twice weekly. There are 7 meetings per year, generally held on a Monday afternoon.  

Boys Rugby:

Two matches and two practices are held per week. Various tours are offered as well as Festivals held in Kwazulu Natal and Gauteng. Mondeor High School has had three Craven Week players and a Gauteng Provincial Schools player over the years. Keegan Fredricks is our latest Craven Week player.
