Every learner at Mondeor High takes part in our charity collection. Charity fund-raising is co-ordinated in term two, the Senior Citizens' party in term three and the Christmas Carol singing in term four. Visits to various charity organisations are made on request.
Every year, between January and March, roughly 60 of our best speakers enter the South African Guild of Speech and Drama Festival.
The media centre provides a service to both staff and learners. Learners are given the resources to research projects. A wide range of books offers something for everyone. A Computer Centre with Gauteng Online is available in the Media Centre.
This annual event aims to challenge the learner who excels in English. Mondeor High has, over the past few years, had 11 of its pupils placed at the top 100 entries in South Africa.
This club promotes both the French language and culture. Meetings take place once a fortnight, and trips are organised, for example: to the cinema for French films.
Learners take a course in first aid at school as well as three months training with St. John Ambulance Brigade. Learners are on duty at all sports meetings.
Débutantes and Squires:
The Débutantes and Squires raise funds by being imaginative and creative with their talents. There are about 90 grade 11 girls and boys choosing to be a débutante or Squire each year. They are encouraged to do community work: visiting homes, institutions and orphanages and seeing to the needs of the community.
This society is active in the first and second terms, and is entered into the SACCEE Debating Competition.
Expo for Young Scientists:
Learners take part in various competitions throughout the year. Mondeor High School has won a number of Gold, Silver and Bronze awards at regional and national expos.
Drama is active in the first and second terms. Competitions entered are RAPS play festival and the GDE play festival.
The Enviro Club:
The club works on one project from January to December and participates in 2 or 3 competitions per year. The enviro club has won numerous awards, trips and competitions over the years.
Afrikaans Drama in conjunction with MAD:
There are two competitions, ATKV-streekskompetisie and possible EADS competitions.
Mondeor High School's Student Christian Association aims to spread the gospel and to encourage personal development. Prayer meetings are held twice weekly during breaks.
Fashion and Variety Show:
Mondeor High school holds an annual fashion and variety show. It encourages participation from all the learners. Over 500 learners participate in this extravaganza. Many past pupils found the fashion show to be a springboard into the entertainment world : Michelle Bruce (former Miss SA), Patricia Lewis (entertainer) , Paula Amaro, and Tracey Peters (top dress designer).
The purpose of Interact is to provide opportunity for young people to work together in a world of fellowship dedicated to service and international understanding.
The Chess team is involved in the Gauteng Schools Tournament and Southern Gauteng Schools League tournament.
The choir is run as an entertainment group where learners are encouraged to play musical instruments, and prepare items for various functions such as Play Festivals and the Fashion and Variety Show.
